Robert Cornwell has been a registered architect in the state of Michigan since 1980. Bob earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Rhode Island School of Design in1974 and worked at firms in Colorado and Northern Virginia before returning to Traverse City to join the firm his father began in 1947. Bob took over the leadership of the firm from his father in 1984 and led the firm through 2015 before entrusting the firm to Mark Humitz. Bob remains directly involved with the office through business development, project design, project management and staff mentoring activities.
Bob currently serves as Vice Chair on the Grand Traverse County Construction Appeals Board , is past Chairman of the Grand Traverse County Planning Commission, past Board Member of the Grand Traverse County Parks and Recreation, current trustee of Child and Family Services and past President and Board Member, past Board Member for Pathfinder School, and past Council Member for Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
An avid sailor and skier, Bob is the past Chairman of the Grand Traverse Ski Club, past president of Traverse Area Community Sailing and is past Commodore of Grand Traverse Yacht Club.
