Leland Home
Leland, MI

This home is located on a small city lot and was designed so the interior would feel spacious even though the square footage was relatively small.  This was accomplished by utilizing vaulted ceilings, keeping the living, dining, and kitchen areas open to each other, and by allowing a great deal of natural light into the space with large south facing windows with transoms.  The interior features graceful arches and columns between the living area and the kitchen, and between the living area and the master bedroom.  The interior finishes consist of wood floors, painted walls with some wainscoting, and painted V-groove wood ceilings on the vaulted areas.  It is nicely detailed throughout with built-in shelving, cabinets, columns, arches, and a masonry fireplace with a mantle.  The house also has two bedrooms, a bathroom, mud room, and a screened front porch.  The porch features stone flooring, large screened windows, a vaulted ceiling, and an arched stained-glass window.  On the exterior, an impressive stone chimney adds interest to the exterior, and a stone base surrounds the porch, front columns, and a planter.  The siding is stained wood shingles and the roof is also wood shingles.
